George and I like to unwind at night by entertaining ourselves with cat videos on youtube. Tonight we cam across a video of a cat that has shown me what a "talkative" cat actually is.
Yes, there are days that George likes to wake me up at 7am just to talk. He jumps in the bed, screams "MOM" in my face, hoping to get my attention.
Yes, there are days when I come home late from work, and get a lecture from George on how late I am, and he recaps his entire day to me...yelling at me for the boredom he had to endure.
And these are times when I am like, my goodness, I have the most talkative cat...
However, this video proved me wrong...
haha!
Senile Talking Cat (Part One)
Never again will I complain about George's adorable little calls in the morning or lectures in the evenings :) I am so blessed to have my cat!!
...though I must say, I love that senile kitty! and would adopt him any day!
...and that poor black and white kitty too!!
Welcome!
Hello! My name is Kelley, and I have been blessed to have the most special cat in my life. He is a rescue cat from Jamaica Plains, MA...and came into my life while I was a grad student at Harvard.

Its all Mom's Fault
Hey Everyone!
George here. So, mom got a new job and it is all her fault that there hasn't been a recent post! When she gets home from work, I kind of demand her attention by stampeding down the hallway, sitting on her feet, and my many other tactics which I won't disclose to the public yet (can't give away all of my trade secrets!).
Things have been good lately! Mom is happy that she is making money...which makes me happy because that means I get lots of good food and my FAVORITE packets of soft food!! and LITTER! wooo!! There is nothing like the feeling of fresh litter between your extra toes.....
....
Sorry, I couldn't resist the urge to jump in and out of my litter box just then :) But I am back!
While mom is at work, I get to have some Chelsea time. She is our roommate here. I like her a lot. She lets me sleep in her bed, snuggled in her down comforter. She also lets me help her with her homework! She does a lot of sewing on a sewing machine, and I love to help her by laying on her fabrics...that way they don't blow away!! I am super helpful! I have taken a liking to this white fluffy stiff she calls polyfill...though I quickly learned that it is not a "litter box" filler, I still don't quite know what it is, but it sure is fun!
OH! Crayola Model Magic! Get it! I LOVE THIS STUFF! Forget the catnip! Forget String! Forget scratching posts! JUST GIVE ME MODEL MAGIC! Chelsea uses it all the time on her projects where she makes fun shapes...and I like to test out the models she makes for durability by picking them up in my mouth and throwing them down the hall...when I then chase them and stomp on them! She even gave me my own model!! Though I think that the other 1038 of them still need to be tested...
Mom just fluffed her feather bed, so I am going to go flatten it again :) She loves when I do that :) oh, maybe I can convince her to take a nap with me, and we can snuggle before she has to go to work tonight!
Love and purrs,
George

Mole Cat
George and I would like to explain a new nickname that I have give him. I call him, Mole Cat. With this explanation will be a small insight on George's shoe fetish as well...
Mole Cat.
People always wonder what their pets do when they are not at home. I know that I for sure wonder! My family tested that one summer vacation with my cat Peppermint. We went to Disney World and called the house. The phone rang once, twice, thrice, and just before ring number four, we heard the phone pick up on the other end and heard the softest sound of a meow! Peppermint was answering the phones! But wait, if she was answering before our call, how is she answering now... the phone we thought would then remain off the hook. So we tested that theory. We all said by-bye Pep, and low and behold, the cat put the phone back on the hook!!
But back to Mole Cat. I know what George does for 80% of the time I am gone...sleep. He loves to nap, being that he is a cat, but my cat doesn't normally nap in the sunshine of the window. He doesn't normally nap on the big comfy comforters on my bed. No. He naps in places way to small for him :) He naps in hidden places that are nearly impossible to find him in if you aren't looking carefully. His main 2 places are under my bed in the back corner between an unused fan and the headboard, and on my shoes in the closet.
So when I get home, I of course look for him if he doesn't greet me at the door (which he does 90% of the time). But on those days when he is hiding, the days before I learned his hiding places, I would call out MOLE CAT! and he would call back MAMA! and slink out of his hiding place! No other name would work. I would call his name or his other thousand nicknames, but MOLE CAT works every time!
So when you come by, and for some reason you can't find George, call out MOLE CAT! and George will find you :)

When Mom's Away, the Cats at Play
Hi Friends!
So mom is out of town this weekend, and the roommate is taking care of me! I am known to make myself at home, so roommates...scoot over and get ready to share your pillow tonight!
But in truth, I get a little lonely, and will ask the roommate super nicely if I can snuggle for a minute with her. The last time mom was gone, she said YES :)
I must say though, I am not happy with mom right now. I love her, but she left me no soft food cans for when she is away! Roommate keeps apologizing, but I can't help but to let her know alllllll about it from the time she wakes up to the time she is snuggling and snoring with me at night. I think it got to her today though because she texted mom to tell her i was super "talkative"...oops.
But dangit, I want some soft food! Can a cat get a little friskies or whiskas love here?! And my Jedi Mind Powers just aren't developed enough to change my hard food to soft...nuts...

O well, I will just let mom know all about it when she gets back tomorrow!
oh, and I really want that man with the Cole Haan shoes to come back. those were the best smelling shoes to sleep in since mom's nike's!

Welcome Home Nix!
George and I just wanted to write a post welcoming home our cat "niece" and "cousin", Nix!
Nix belongs to my best friend, and the other day, Nix escaped through a small opening in the window. She was gone for quite some time, no sign of her anywhere. My best friend trekked the woods, left food outside around the house, contacted the Humane Society, created a craigslist page...did EVERYTHING a worried pet owner should do.
But best of all, relied on prayer to bring home Nix. I think my cat whispering skills were helpful too, but I digress :)
And sure enough, I got a text message yesterday morning that NIX HAD RETURNED HOME--a little smelly, but unharmed! A surely relieved mommy, and not safe at home kitty :)
Ok Nix, no more outside adventures please! And as for your sisters, Selena and Athena...be nice to Nix...she will only smell bad for a little while!!
love and purrs,
Kelley and George

George the Tackling Alarm Clock
Mom told me the other night that in the morning she was going to have an "interview" for a "job" to "make that money". Not too sure what she means by all that, BUT she did say that if she "makes that money" I get to have more can food in my life. so mom, i said, MAKE THAT MONEY!
That night we went to the night night super early. I decided to be a super good boy and not bother mom in the night time, but of course i got a little lonely after a while, and shared her pillow for a while. i can tell she loves it when I do that! so because of her joy, and willingness to share her pillow (the other 3 on the bed just aren't close enough to mom's face)...I gave her a face massage--just helping her with her floodgating :)
...and we laid there...for a looong while. too long it seems. Shouldn't mom be getting up sometime soon to get that money to get my cans? Didn't she say something about getting up at 8am to catch her train? But that clock over there says 815am, and there is no song playing from it. Maybe I should give mom a slight reminder of the time.
SO--I gently walk up on the bed to her face, and stick my nose in her mouth. Nothing.
I take my paw and hit her in the face. She simply rolls over...
I softly say her name, "mom..." just to alert her a little. again, nothing.
So i jump down, and play with our roommate (because maybe she will feed me, giving me some brain power on how to wake up mom).
PANIC PANIC! The clock says 845am! mom needs to leave between 9 and 915am! Drastic measures must be taken!
Starting at the end of the hallway, I STAMPEDE into the room...THROW myself up onto the bed...overestimate and roll with the sheets off the bed a little...recover and stand tall by mom and SCREAM!!! MOOOOOOOMMMMM!
she actually stirs a little! MOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!! her eyes are open...
MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...and just like that, she rolls over, looks at the clock, and well, she becomes a blur as she somehow gets out of the apartment at 915am! Get it Mom!
...yeah, I am just that good sometimes :)

By George! ... no, really :)
meo....err....Hello Friends :)
so, while mom was at work, I decided to write my own post thing! thanks for reading about me--i am kinda sexy...well, at least that is what mom says, and then she and her friends spoil me. so if sexy = spoiled = treats, rubs, and cuddles ... then i want to be a sexy beast!
but anyway, as mom said in her post last night, my name is George...full name Keoki George C. Wolfe. (i am named after one of her favorite playwrights!) i respond to pretty much anything really - "Bubba" is a popular one, "Man", "Monster", and so on :)
the doctor, whom i love, thinks that i am about 4 in people years. i had a rough start, and stuffed inside many kennel cages that were waaay too small for me...but now i am safe in a big home with my mom! I had this mommy one time in massachusetts who was super nice to me! she was the first to rescue me actually...and the one that named me Keoki (George in Hawaiian). she spoiled me too--lots of food and treats...and a big bed with a shade cover on it! and then she gave me to my new mom, who i think is the definition of a crazy cat lady in the making. but I love her anyway!
well, while mom was out today, i decided it would be a great idea to rearrange her shoes in her closet! sure, i was making it a more comfortable bed for me, but i think in the long run, it will be better for her too! did i mention i love shoes? yeah, they are kind of my thing. don't get me wrong, i love to beat up my mouse toy, kill bugs for mom, and chase the ceiling fan in circles...but nothing like a nap with my front paws each in a shoe, and my face snuggled in another! its the life!
life in brooklyn is great. i have a neighbor downstairs. he is a french bulldog puppy, and his name is rufus. mom causes all this fuss about how cute he is; i think he looks like he smashed his face into a wall. but to each their own! and i am not jealous or anything, i am just saying. I have never seen my other neighbors at the bottom of our brownstone yet. i know there is another animal down there though...and i am trying so hard to make it down there without mom catching me...but nuts! it takes me a while to waddle down those weird wood things that descend to a platform at the bottom (i think mom calls them stairs or something). I don't understand them really and how i am to get my backside down them...and flopping down them was not effective!
OH! i hear a can of cat food being opened...gotta run...well, walk in the other room...i don't run.
love and purrs,
george

First Impressions
First impressions, they say, can't be taken back. George on the other hand might be the exception to that rule sometimes! When I say that I have a cat, no one expects a 22 pound, almost 3 foot long cat to walk up to them. You think you know him when you see him...but he tends to show you who he truly is once your panic settles down. And there have been some priceless reactions to him that we have decided to share with you!
My first words to him were "I have to have you." I saw him stretched out on the top of the couch, hugging it like the "monorail kitty", purring loudly at the entrance of a new friend...and I knew.
As for other people's (and pet's) reactions:

As for other people's (and pet's) reactions:
"Is that a tiger?!" -- a best friend of mine said then on her entrance to my room where George was sleeping in a shoe box...well, most of him was...
"That's not a cat, that's a grown man!" -- my father.
"HAHA! omygoodness he is huge!" -- I will credit this to my current, unsuspecting roommate...though this is a popularly used response.
"You are not going to bring that lion on this plane!" -- an AirTran Flight Attendant, with a smile
"...gasp...gasp...(man begins to breath into paper lunch bag)" -- an Airport Security Agent with a cat phobia (ailurophobia).
"What do you feed him?!" -- a kind taxi driver helping me put him in the cab of his car.
So what were your first impressions of him? Share with us!
And if you haven't met him yet...then you might need to plan a visit so we can get your reaction documented :)
love and purrs,
Kelley and George
