Welcome!

Hello! My name is Kelley, and I have been blessed to have the most special cat in my life. He is a rescue cat from Jamaica Plains, MA...and came into my life while I was a grad student at Harvard.

Bye Aunt Peppermint

Mommy just got home from being away, and she hasn't stopped crying.  When we got ready for bed, and she was in the shower, I couldn't wait any longer, and burst through the door to ask her what was wrong.  She told me that she had to say goodbye to peppermint.

Mom has had peppermint since she was 6 years old, and they have a special bond.  I love my aunt peppermint, and though she isn't a big fan of me, I know that she still loves me...as long as I remained in at least a 4 state distance from her.

Anyway, Aunt Peppermint has been really sick, and her kidney's shut down, and she lost all her ability to eat, and was slowly losing her ability to walk as well.  At about 3lbs, she wasn't living the quality of life that was even remotely what they wanted for her.  Mom said that she was going home for the weekend, to be with peppermint, and Chelsea took care of me!  Mom got some wonderful snuggle time in with Peppermint, and got to take her on a slow, very slow, walk outside...pep loved her outdoor activity time.  and she was determined to walk the length of the backyard on her own!  and she did :)  Afterwards, mom and pep had some snuggle time, and then mom had to board a bus to come back to NY.  Mom said it was the hardest thing she has ever had to do.  She compared it to leaving me with my Aunt Candi when she left for Moscow... but as if she wasn't coming back from Moscow for me...then I realized just how sad she was.

To Aunt Peppermint, you were, and will always be the most Spoiled, Loved, Perfect cat, and I am honored to be your nephew!  I hope that Cousin Sebastian and I can lead on with your legacy...though we have some HUGE shoes to fill!

Some Favorite Memories of Peppermint:
1. Holding her for the first time.  She was so small, and yet he claws were so sharp as they dug deep into my shoulders...but as a six year old getting her first pet, the pain was just a sign of love...that she never wanted to let me go.
2. One Christmas Eve we had all went to bed excited for Santa to come.  Way into the wee hours of the night we all hear a huge BOOM!  I thought it was Santa dropping off our gifts.  We all ran downstairs to see that Peppermint had climbed up the Christmas tree, and knocked the entire thing over!!
3. Her "love" of my aunt Stuffy :)
4. Laying on my stomach coloring in my coloring book or watching Saturday morning cartoons, as peppermint laid on my back / butt.
5. Being in the car with mom a few hours before we were to pick up Peppermint, getting to choose her name.  I had already picked it out, and was so excited to share it...Peppermint Friskie Green :)
6. Dragging "ugly blanket" ugly blanket around and having her jump on the end of it as I pulled it down the hallway
7. Her "love of my friend Jackie (I know she is throwing her ears back just because I said her name...)
8. Her approval of my friends Lindsay and Amy :)
9. The month I brought George home with me, Peppermint was PISSED!  She followed me around the house hissing and growling at me!
10. Our final snuggle.
